Sometimes, due to work commitments, lack of free time, or travel restrictions, I am unable to get on a plane and explore a new country.
At those times, I try to explore my own country.
How many of us are guilty of jet-setting off to foreign lands but fail to explore our own back gardens?
Often, there are many beautiful places to explore at home, and here in the UK, it doesn’t get much better than the Peak District.
The Peak District
The Peak District is a National Park that lies in the center of England. It’s famous for its dramatic landscape, stark moorland, and awesome views.
From my home in Cheshire, I can get to the Peak District in one hour by car. If you’re coming from London it will take you approximately 3.5 hours and you can travel by car or by train.
I frequently escape to the peaks to go hiking with my dog, Winston, and together we have a mini-adventure.
If you love the outdoors and enjoy walking, cycling, and/or wildlife watching, then I encourage you to visit The Peak District on your UK trip.
..and to help tempt you even more, here are 22 (23 if you count the feature photo) of my own photos to help inspire you.
NOTE: Please bear in mind that I’m far from being a professional photographer – I’m more of a ‘point and shoot’ type of person – so just imagine how great these photos would be if they were taken by a professional!
With all that said, let go!
When are you visiting The Peak District?
After seeing those photos, I’m sure that the question isn’t ‘if‘ you’re going to visit, it’s more likely going to be ‘when‘ are you going to visit.
Please do let me know if you have any questions when planning your trip, I’ll be happy to help you out.
Happy hiking!
